Case Study A (Initial from Country of Origin)

Name: Ms. E.F. / Age 26 / Nationality: Japan / Visa Type: F-1
Traveling around New York for her two-week stay with ESTA, she started thinking of studying in the United States to improve her English. Back in home in Tokyo, she contacted H2EC’s student advisor and found the school that fits her purpose of study and budget. Guided by the advisor, she followed the steps to take to apply for a school program as well as for F-1 visa. She felt confident in talking with the visa interviewer at the U.S. embassy because she was fully prepared and advised by the H2EC advisor. She got the F-1 visa and flew to New York. She is studying English very hard, fully enjoying her life in New York.

Case Study B (Change of Status)

Name: Mr. W.A. / Age: 45 / Nationality: China / Visa Type: B2
He came to the U.S. as a tourist. Traveling for 4 months, he wanted to improve his English in the U.S.. His status was going to expire within 2 months. He came to H2EC to process his status change. H2EC helped him enroll to a language school in New York and got the I-20 for him in 2 days. 4 months later, he received the approval letter of his application for F-1 status.

Name: Ms.T.E. / Age: 27 / Nationality: Thailand / Visa Type: J1
She joined an AU pair J-1 program and worked as a nanny for a host family in United States. Last year was her second year working as a nanny. Unfortunately, when she tried to renew her contract for another year to continue working as a nanny, her host family changed their mind and found a new nanny. Because her English skill was not improved much, she was very upset and and disappointed when she first contacted H2EC. H2EC advised to change her status to F-1, as an international status. Even though she only had two weeks to process everything, H2EC managed to complete everything and submit all the required documents in less than 2 weeks. She waited for 6 months and got her approval letter.

Case Study D (Reinstatement)

Name: Ms.Z.L. / Age: 18 / Nationality: South Korea / Visa Type: F1
She came to the U.S. with F-1 visa. However, due to her health issue, she couldn’t attend the school she was registered in for 6 months. Eventually her F-1 status was terminated by the school: she lost her legal status to stay in the U.S.. After she recovered, she sought help and visited H2EC with her relatives.
